Global firm HOK has announced that Susan Klumpp Williams, AIA, and Eli Hoisington, AIA, are the company's new co-chief executive officers. The pair, who have been serving as interim co-CEOs since May 2022, succeed Bill Hellmuth, FAIA, who passed away earlier this month.

“Combining Eli’s design expertise and Susan’s business acumen in this new co-CEO leadership structure will drive HOK’s evolution as a more diverse, collaborative, and international design firm," HOK president Carl Galioto, FAIA, said in a firm press release.

According to the same release, both Klumpp Williams and Hoisington have served on the HOK team for many years. Klumpp Williams—who will be the firm's first female CEO—began her HOK tenure in 1985. Most recently the managing principal of HOK’s Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Tampa, Fla., and Miami studios, the Georgetown University- and University of Georgia-trained pro has worked on buildings such as the Nationals Park Major League Baseball stadium in Washington; the FBI Laboratory Headquarters in Quantico, Va.; and the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

Meanwhile, Hoisington, a Syracuse University alum who joined the firm in 2005, has worked in HOK's New York and St. Louis offices. Among others, his projects include LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B in New York; the St. Louis North Riverfront Stadium proposal; and the Brigade Gateway mixed-use development in Bangalore, India.
