Project Description
Inadequate space for educational and athletic programs was the driving force for the school district to pursue a referendum for renovations essential to maintain school facilities and keep children safe. Working closely with the District’s Facility Planning Committee, CSArch designed a district-wide capital renovation project to enhance interior and exterior program spaces, tackle infrastructure maintenance and make technology upgrades.
The main entrance and offices at the middle/high school were redesigned to improve safety and maintain a welcoming feel. The existing 1938 elementary school entry has been restored to provide building security and maintain its historic character. In an effort to increase efficiency, the District and business offices were relocated and united in an addition to the elementary school.
At the elementary school, major renovations in classrooms and the cafeteria provide enhanced learning environments for the district’s youngest population. The middle/high school benefit from classroom renovations and a 10 classroom addition. The library, auditorium, pool and locker rooms received major renovations to accommodate current technologies and contemporary learning environments. Due to dramatic space constraints for extracurricular sports, a new multi-purpose gymnasium was created, featuring field accessible lavatories and concession stand.
New high-efficiency heating, plumbing and lighting has been incorporated throughout the district to improve overall health and safety, and reduce operating costs. Site improvements include a replaced elementary school playground equipment, repaired sidewalks and upgraded athletic fields.
