Project Description
Priorities
- Update this 1920s-style home with a new master suite without losing the vintage feel
- Create a floor plan to accommodate a bathroom retreat that did not previously fit
- Grant homeowners’ request for a steam generator in the shower
Solutions
Keeping with the era of the house, Mountainwood Homes added a shed-style dormer for the new bathroom space. The materials used for the dormer match those of the existing space to maintain balance between new and old. The steam generator resulted in some challenges for the team. To avoid excess moisture from the steam, a motion-sensing fan was added. Spray foam was used to insulate the adjoining attic to control temperature and condensation issues.Judges’ Comments
