Project Description
Booking.com signed a lease in an existing facility for their global contact center in the greater Grand Rapids area. They determined that the space needed extensive renovations that would better position them to attract and retain top talent. As one of the client’s largest call centers that operates across three separate shifts, the space needed to be high-tech, comfortable, modern, and include a variety of areas for meetings and training sessions.
Ghafari's team designed major upgrades over two floors. Renovations to the first floor included demoing existing space and creating new rooms, refurbishing the reception area and conference rooms, and installing a new elevator. Updates to the employee breakroom involved removing the existing kitchen and converting it into a “fun room” to provide their team members with a space for rest and relaxation when needed. The second floor boasts new rooms with fresh finishes to the cafe and office areas. The resulting workplace contains two floors of office space, two large contact center floors, a fitness center, a 24-hour cafeteria, and a game room.
For Booking.com, it was important to solidify their commitment to the West Michigan market, as well as establish this new Grand Rapids office’s importance as a base to perform their global operations. As an homage to their global reach, each conference room was designed with a unique finish scheme and custom mural wallcovering depicting cities all over the world where Booking.com has offices. Furniture was selected to coordinate with the respective theme. Our team collaborated with the client to create a high-energy space, allowing them to create the dynamic environment for their 1,200 area employees.
