Project Description
The theme of the house to be constructed had rich Tuscan roots, with a huge logia that was proposed to step down to a lower level, and floor to ceiling doors. After our clients had interviewed several other pool/design companies that just didnt seem to capture the look or feel they were after. And after hearing about us through a friend, we were called in for ideas. The lot was long narrow and on a slope, not ideal for any type of construction. With an existing neighboring house on the downward sloped side, thats windows would be at eye level into the outdoor living area. After reviewing the plans for the new home, my concept would be simple, one level with no step down. A large outdoor kitchen area with built-in appliances and table, and since we needed something for privacy and to hide all our pool equipment, the floor of the barbecue area would be constructed as a structural slab cantilevering out about 9' making for a perfect space underneath to hide the massive amount of pumps and various other equipment. The Kitchen was constructed at the end of the cantilever giving us the privacy from the neighbor, also being raised we were able to stretch the setback to maximum. The unit was constructed from metal square tube, keeping the weight to a minimum, then clad in exterior backer board and finished in stone. The unit also features a custom designed and fabricated burner system for our fire feature, that was designed to resemble the stalks of grape vines. When ignited fire licks up the wall and water gently flows behind the flames creating a unique visual feature and complementing the Tuscan design.
