This project is for an addition to a downtown Bank Headquarters in Charlotte North Carolina. It consists of public interior spaces, meeting spaces and collaborative work place environments. A terraced urban garden at level 3 connects to an existing atrium with glazed bridges. This multi level space is a public environment which connects down to a street level exterior pocket park and unites new and existing Bank spaces, a new hotel done by another architect, and an existing parking structure. This new civic space provides breakout spaces for the office and hotel as well as providing connectivity to the existing parking structure. The typical office floors are developed around a reconfigurable chassis concept that can be adapted to suit the various business units within the corporation. Elements of the Bank’s brand were woven into the interiors through environmental graphics. Floor to ceiling glass and a series of vertically stacked three story landscaped sky gardens occur at two opposite corners of the building, providing an environment for impromptu gatherings and team meetings.
