Project Description
Conceptually and spatially, the selected artworks by Albrecht Dürer and William Kentridge are articulated as seven curatorial themes in the upper gallery for temporary exhibitions at the Kulturforum of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
The light-diffusing fabric’s variable height creates spatial transitions from one exhibition theme to the next, without producing an effect of separation. The result is that the space is experienced as a whole. Our minimalist use of partitions structures the exhibition space, while supporting differently themed spatial situations in which the artworks are viewed. The lighting conditions—arising not least of all from the interplay of the light sails, the framing outer wall of the gallery and the partitions - offer an array of experiences through the senses which structure the dialogical perception of the prints by Dürer and Kentridge.
