Project Description
FROM THE ARCHITECTS:
As the fastest growing, privately owned media company in the country, Horizon Media’s growth is reflected in the ongoing development of their workplace. Two floors at 75 Varick were initially design for Horizon Media with the goal of fostering connectivity between the newly collocated staff, a concept that has been subsequently spread across the 15th-16th and 11-12th floors.
The offices at Horizon Media have inspired a massive change in their culture, according to leadership. The drive for moving offices was to not only to collocate, but use space as an engine for change in workplace behavior. The design not only promotes new and different modes of collaboration, but provides enough variety to increase the volume of time spent in collaborative meetings. The design response confronted this challenge directly with beautiful, sculptural, collaborative spaces built into key moments across each of the 60,000SF floor plates.
The space makes a statement about Horizon; that they care about their people and fostering collaboration between them. Employees are afforded the luxury of flexible, elastic work spaces which benefit from the light, airy quality of the space. The Head of Human Resources for the company noted that she underestimated the value of a holistic workplace environment before moving to the newly designed space. Now, as she’s watched the company grow over the last five years, she feels it is one of the most significant contributors to a healthy, desirable, balanced work-life.
