Project Description
This home is designed to take advantage of great views in all directions. The home overlooks Lake Pend Oreille, one of the largest lakes in the northwestern United States, with additional views to two different mountain ranges and a ski resort.
The home’s exterior is a rustic blend of wood and stone elements, with an inviting timber frame style covered entrance and front porch. Except for a private putting green, landscaping has been kept to a minimum. Much of the natural vegetation has been left as is, lending even more charm to the home’s feel as a mountain hideaway. Porches, patios, decks and firepits abound to take advantage of the incredible views.
Once you enter the home, a bridge is seen overhead, leading to a circular three level rotunda that serves as an anchor for the home. The main floor also consists of a guest bedroom, a large kitchen, dining area, and a great room with high ceilings and timber trusses.
The bridge above connects the circular stair tower to the master wing, which includes a master bedroom facing 45 degrees towards Schweitzer Ski Resort. The couple likes to snowboard at Schweitzer on the weekends, so they get a first glimpse of the weather on the mountain first thing in the morning. The upper level also includes a large master bathroom and closet, as well as an office and a library accessed by a hidden door in a bookcase.
In the daylight basement below, there is a game room and bar area with a fireplace, along with a media room, another guest bedroom, a wine room, and access to a covered spa outdoors. The bar area has pendant lighting shaped from wine bottles, which perfectly describes the couple who loves to entertain friends and family.
