Project Description

Johnson & Johnson Innovation’s vision is to provide a capital efficient and flexible platform where emerging companies can transform the scientific discoveries of today into the breakthrough healthcare products of tomorrow. The goal of their first stand-alone site, JLABS @ South San Francisco, was to create a space that helps accelerate scientific discovery, advance innovative products, and support the formation of life science companies. EwingCole designed the 30,000 sf incubator space to include chemistry, concept, and biology labs; office spaces; conference rooms; and shared common areas for up to 50 emerging companies. Thoughtful planning led to a flexible, open-air scheme which allows for easy growth and encourages collaboration amongst the resident entrepreneurs.
