Project Description
FROM THE ARCHITECTS:
The architect’s personal home. “Katamochi” means “cantilever” in Japanese and reflects the inspiration for the design, which was derived from Japanese craftsmanship with its emphasis on quality over quantity. The open plan features an abundance of operable windows for cross ventilation. The windows, combined with moving walls, connect the inside with the outdoors. When the walls are open, the wrap-around deck becomes part of the living space. Perdue Studios handcrafted the fireplace surround and collaborated with the architects to create the unique staircase and railings.
