Project Description
This home deserves this award because of its attention to detail and functionality in every space. The home epitomizes Austin’s burgeoning modern home aesthetic. Located just off South Congress, the flying rooflines and juxtaposed finishes relate to the campy, playful styles of the nearby commercial stretch of South Congress Avenue. Designed around a central axis front to back and side to side, the wide-open floorplan lends itself to generous expanses of light and texture, making it the ideal home for entertaining. The lot was small and unusually shaped, so we were unable to build the size of the home and the downstairs outdoor living space we wanted. We resolved the challenge by building an outdoor living area on top of the garage, which is accessed from the second story of the home and captures a beautiful view of Downtown Austin. We designed the kitchen to be the gourmet chef’s “dream kitchen.” A faucet above the stove offers immediate hot water on command. A secondary sink at the kitchen island allows you to wash food in one sink while soaking dirty pans in the other. Dual counter-height DishDrawer dishwashers slide out on either side of the sink, allowing for easy dish cleanup. The built-in Miele Coffee Station delivers your favorite pick-me-up easily and with incredible flavor. Further, the 6-burner range with 24” griddle and side-by-side ovens allow the preparation of multiple dishes at once. The master bathroom was designed to integrate the feel and functionality of a luxurious spa. Counter-to-ceiling mirrors bounce the light from the large windows and envelop the bathroom in natural light. One of the most striking features of the bathroom is our innovative “Wet Area” that encloses the freestanding tub and shower with frameless glass, allowing for complete relaxation without dripping water all over the bathroom floor.
