Project Description
DC food enthusiasts can savor the “minibar” by José Andrés. Acting as architect of record, CORE collaborated and executed the restaurant design envisioned by renowned Spanish architect Juli Capella. The new minibar at 855 E Street NW has a fresh, neutral, and light backdrop that contrasts with bold, whimsical European accents.
As guests enter minibar, they are welcomed into a glamorous lounge area with white-washed woods floors and shimmering metal-bead curtains. In the dining area, warm oak countertops and two suspended gold “domes” shelter guests throughout the meal – providing a relaxed, intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. The domes are an example of how CORE brought Capella’s vision to reality, by sourcing a local boat-builder, Bandy Boats, who cut the domes from old sailboat hulls. Other unique décor elements include: a richly-stained walnut table; a custom-made infinity mirror; white-washed cement wallpaper; Ligne Roset wall sconces, Jaime Hayon couches; and select Cerruti Baleri furnishings.
