Project Description
The striking multi-story atrium space in this 94,000-square-foot, four-story building illustrates a clean, modern interpretation of wood, humanizing the building while offering warmth and supporting community. The client’s goal was to create a collaborative, energetic headquarters that would accommodate the firm’s growth and support its standing as a community leader; wood was used throughout the design to reflect the client’s simple, honest, “we're in this together" ethic. White oak was the material of choice for the towering glulam structural columns used for the atrium’s curtain wall. White oak glulam also forms the stair treads and landings for the dramatic floating staircase, which connects all four stories. Elsewhere, designers specified walnut and oak for the walls and slatted ceiling panels in lobbies and other common spaces. Wood is an essential part of the building’s interior color palette, used to create a space that feels warm and natural to employees and visitors.
