Project Description
Moon Mayoras was hired to design Scott & White Hospital at College Station, a general acute care facility for Scott & White Healthcare System, the largest multi-specialty practice in the State of Texas. Situated on a 98-acre site at the intersection of Texas Highway 6 and Rock Prairie Road in College Station, Texas, the five-story facility provides 143 inpatient beds, and is supported by a 75,000-square-foot outpatient clinic adjacent to the hospital. The outpatient clinic will be integrated to provide clinical services in direct support of the general acute care hospital.
The building exterior was designed using natural stone indigenous to the area, with lighter materials, such as glass and metal paneling for the upper floors. Moon Mayoras Architects positioned the hospital so the main public entry is easily identifiable from Rock Prairie Road by the two-story lobby and elevator tower, which will serve as the prominent visual elements of the design. This main entry will feature a plaza with a healing garden designed for contemplation and tranquility.
The 324,070-square-foot building will house emergency services, cardiac services, a neonatal intensive care unit, comprehensive cancer services, operating rooms, maternity suites, interoperative robotics, and other special services, all supported by comprehensive imaging technology and other diagnostic capabilities.
The hospital design includes a full-service kitchen and dining room to support patients, staff, and visitors. Moon Mayoras also designed space for administrative services and an educational/conference center.
