Project Description

Located within the airport district town in Wuhan, the aim is to create a commercial shopping mall as well as public space as a hub of major gateway for community and surrounding land use. Surrounding the main urban area, Wuhan has four major economic growth poles. This project is located in the “Great Airport” section in the northwest, and is the third and youngest national development zone in Wuhan. During the historical development of Dongxi Lake, a cluster of endogenous cities with their own characteristics has been formed, and Lingkong Port New City is its evolutionary ladder towards the integration and development of industry and city.

Embracing the concept of future and dream beyond the horizon, the shopping mall design is inspired by the ancient history of Wuhan. Wuhan used to be a place inundated with water that formed lakes. During most period of time, the steam from the lake gave an impression of city like a cloud dream. Therefore, not only the largest lake in the province named after the Cloud Dream Lake, also it has become a symbol of prosperity of the development of Wuhan.

The mall consists of five-story commercial massing, which adopts a loop circulation with retail island typology following to the site scale. The east side has become the face to the avenue, with the jewel, creating a new landmark of Dongxi Lake with a smart future outlook. On the west side facing the inner street and site an office complex, open step terraces are created to continue the important site a landscape spine to be a destination entrance for the mall user as well as for public, to explore and discover the park integration and the commercial aspect.
