Project Description
FROM THE ARCHITECTS:
The tower floor plan resembles a splash of water: fluid,
curvilinear, asymmetrical. It rises from an organic landscape that blends
the beach dunes of Sunny Isles with the pools and decks of this new residential
enclave. A winding road links Collins Avenue with an elevated porte cochere.
The monumental arrival appears perched atop a man-made hill. Its elevated
vantage point exposes the ocean and horizon. A multistory atrium reveals
the levels of architecture and landscape with three dimensional drama.
As it reaches the sky, the tower's nautical architecture
dissolves into terraces. They create a series of vast decks that resemble those
of great yachts and cruise liners. Each has a pool that floats above the
city and the nearby park.
Half way up the building another curvilinear erosion reveals a
residents' club. The club and its observation porch flow in all
directions with views of the ocean and the intracoastal waterway. It contains
lounges, gourmet dining areas, and hotel rooms for short term guests.
The floor layout results in unique units. No unit is like
another within a floor. Each layout has its own architectural personality.
Large terraces are contained within the building form creating corner views
from interior spaces.
The building details continue the nautical vocabulary of the
volume and roofline. Slabs form bullnose edges, glass appears pure and
mullion-less from the exterior, white overhangs define the edges. The interiors
reinforce the nautical message with details that recall the great yacht clubs
and beach clubs of the world.
