Flooring Is Free of Formaldehyde

1 MIN READ

Bamboo Flooring and Plywood Manufacturer Smith & Fong, San Francisco, has begun converting its plants in Taiwan and China to a urea-formaldehyde-free manufacturing process. This year, 50 percent of Plyboo bamboo plywood and flooring product lines will be converted to a urea-formaldehyde-free process.

“When the California Air Resources Board [Sacramento, Calif.] voted on its two-phase regulations to reduce and eliminate formaldehyde from composite-wood products, Plyboo had already surpassed the CARB regulations’ most stringent emission levels,” says Dan Smith, Smith & Fong’s president and founder. “But there is no reason formaldehyde cannot be eliminated completely from adhesives while maintaining quality and efficiency.” For more information, visit www.plyboo.com.
