If you have a change you'd like to propose for the National Green Building Standard (NGBS), now is the time to speak up: Home Innovation Research Labs has kicked off the development process for the 2015 version of the system and is accepting proposed changes until March 24. The firm is also accepting applications for those interested in serving on the consensus committee or a task group. Those applications must be submitted by March 14.
The 2015 version of the NGBS will be the third iteration of the green building rating system. Task groups specializing in each area of the NGBS, such as energy efficiency or site development, will be formed to evaluate changes. Later this year, the full consensus committee will hold two hearings in Washington, D.C. The first meeting will initiate the review of all proposed changes to the standard, which will include input from task force members. In the second meeting, committee members will take formal action on all proposed changes. Once the committee is finished, the new standard will be submitted to the American National Standards Institute for approval in 2015.
