Lighting: The Next Frontier, is the theme of Architectural Lighting’s 30th Anniversary celebration taking place Dec. 8 in New York City. As part of the evening’s program there will be a series of PechaKucha-style presentations—short presentations that quickly use a series of no more than 20 images to convey one’s ideas.
For AL’s 30th Anniversary presentations we invite designers to consider: What do you envision as lighting’s next frontier? What are the new design platforms, ideas, and project types that will shape the practice of lighting design over the next 30 years? How will lighting education evolve to prepare practitioners of the future? How will firm culture and design practice change to meet upcoming building and technology challenges? What transformation do you imagine for your own work? How do you define next generation lighting design and lighting designers?
AL’s 30th Anniversary Call for Presentations is open to all lighting design professionals in the employ of design firms. (Those in the employ of a lighting manufacturer or a lighting rep are not eligible.) Presentations are to be given by individuals, not teams.
Proposals should include:
1. Name of presenter, job title, firm name, contact info. including address, telephone, and email contact.
2. Title of the presentation
3. An abstract of up to 500 words describing the theme of the presentation, what will be discussed and how it relates to the program theme - Lighting: The Next Frontier
4. 20 images that will accompany the presentation. (jpeg, lo-res images – 150 dpi)
Proposals will be reviewed and selected by Elizabeth Donoff, Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Lighting. Entrants will be notified by the end of November if their presentation has been selected for the evening of Dec. 8. All questions should be addressed to Elizabeth Donoff at [email protected].
