Cooledge Lighting, known for its LED-based luminous surface products, has opened an office in Waltham, Mass., just outside of Boston. The move allows the company to establish an east coast presence and be closer to architecture, lighting, and design firms as well as “providing access to key talent and resources within the locally established solid-state lighting cluster.” The new office will support sales, product management, and marketing. The company’s R&D, engineering, and manufacturing operations will stay located at the company’s headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia.

“Cooledge is exploiting the advantages of LEDs above and beyond simply stuffing them into antiquated form factors – instead delivering flexible, customizable luminous surfaces that change the way we use and experience light,” said CEO William J. Sims in a press statement. “As a long-time hub for solid-state lighting and related startups, Boston is an ideal location to take our next major strides towards reinventing the industry. We believe that luminous surfaces will transform the design-build process as we know it, and we have the vision and agility to make it happen.”
