The Dept. of Energy will conduct two 90-minute webinars--one on Sept. 15 and one on Sept. 22--which will review the newly published Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) technical memorandum TM-30-15, IES Method for Evaluating Light Source Color Rendition. This new metric is discussed in “The Evolution of White Light,” which appeared in the July/Aug 2015 issue of Architectural Lighting.

The Sept. 15 session will cover the development process behind the new standard and the steps in place for adoption. The Sept. 22 session will review the math and color science behind the calculation engine for the new set of 99 color evaluation samples. Both webinars will start at 1:00 p.m. EST and will be presented by Michael Royer of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Kevin Houser of Penn State University. For further details and to register, go to the DOE’s website
