Eaton has announced the “Call for Entries” for the 42nd Annual Source Awards. The deadline to submit project entries is Feb. 25, 2019.
The competition was revamped in 2018 to focus solely on the “next generation of lighting professionals and building the pipeline of industry talent.” The program “…is open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in lighting or interior design, architecture, engineering or related disciplines.” Students enter a conceptual lighting design project that uses Eaton’s products. Entries will be reviewed and judged by a group of lighting professionals in March 2019, and winners will be announced during an award luncheon held during Lightfair in May 2019.
“This competition is designed with students in mind. As the future of the lighting design industry, we invite students to feel encouraged to think creatively about overcoming real-world design challenges while gaining practical experience in the process,” said Kraig Kasler, president, Eaton’s Lighting Division. “We look forward to seeing the high-quality designs submitted by talented students and recognizing their innovative projects.”
For the program’s 42nd installment, the monetary awards are as follows: Winner: $2,000 and Honorable Mention or Special Recognition: $500 each. In addition to the monetary prizes and trophies, all student winners, along with their faculty adviser receive an invitation to attend a lighting seminar at the Source, Eaton’s lighting education center in Peachtree City, Ga.
