Los Angeles-based EcoSense Lighting has announced that it has purchased the assets of privately owned Journée Lighting, which is located in Westlake Village, Calif. Journée was founded in 2005 by entrepreneur Clayton Alexander and is known for its LED technology innovations at both the component and system levels. The acquisition allows EcoSense to enter the downlight and tracklight markets as it leverages Journée’s intellectual property (IP) for future research and product development. “Journée’s specifier-grade product portfolio is a great complement to our brand,” said Mark Reynoso, CEO of EcoSense Lighting in a prepared statement. “Further, their significant IP portfolio will enable us to expand our product offering in interesting ways.”
Clayton Alexander, CEO of Journée Lighting, echoed the excitement surrounding the acquisition. “We are thrilled to partner with EcoSense and leverage their key strengths, including new technology development, manufacturing efficiencies and global sales expertise.” Going forward, the Journée Lighting name will cease to exist and details are still be worked out regarding merging of staff and facilities. All EcoSense product releases currently scheduled for market, will proceed as planned.
