Flos has announced that it has acquired Lukas Lighting. It is anticipated that the two companies will fully merge by July 2016. Lukas Lighting CEO Craig Corona will take on the new title of Vice President, USA Manufacturing / Design and Product Development and report to Jan Vingerhoets, Flos USA CEO.

The new partnership allows Flos to grow its North American contract business taking things, as Vingerhoets describes “to the next level.” While Flos’s decorative lighting offerings are the company’s showpiece, Vingerhoets notes that the company has always been able to provide designers with a full array of lighting solutions from architectural to custom options. The current acquisition is in keeping with Flos’s strategic growth plan and its focus on growing its North American business. In March of this year, the company acquired Ares, an Italian architectural outdoor lighting company.

“For a long time we have been looking at the North American market to find the right entity and the right talent to give us the chance to repeat the very successful business model that we have in Europe where the mix between decorative design, professional products and custom product capability brought tremendous results,” said Piero Gandini, Flos CEO in a prepared statement. “Craig Corona and his company Lukas Lighting are the perfect solution: a sophisticated and super skilled business unit, able to support all the Flos business with the best design and engineering capabilities for custom solutions. It is for me a reason of great satisfaction and pride to work with a professional talent like Craig Corona and all the Lukas Lighting team from now on.“

Flos USA CEO Jan Vingerhoets echoed this sentiment. “This acquisition will strengthen FLOS USA’s position in the contract market and facilitate North American expansion for both companies, with a made in the USA aspect that will allow us to deliver quicker and more complete solutions for specifiers.”
