The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) has announced that it has created a new position of Technical Editor, and that starting Oct. 3, Dawn De Grazio will fill this position. In this new role, De Grazio will “…assist technical committees and IES Staff with editing IES standards, documents, and articles for accuracy and consistency.” She will report to Brian Liebel, Technical Director of Standards.
A graduate of the architectural engineering program at the University of Colorado, Boulder, De Grazio was most recently director for customer education at lighting software company, Lighting Analysts, based in Littleton, Colo.
She has served on a number of IES technical committees including the Roadway Lighting Committee, the Outdoor Environmental Lighting Committee, and the Marks Award Committee, and she was secretary of the Visual Effects of Lamp Spectral Distribution Committee. Most recently, De Grazio was elected by IES members as an At-Large Director to the IES Board of Directors. In 2012 she was the recipient of the IES Distinguished Service Award.
“Dawn has the unique combination of skills to perform this job," said IES Technical Director of Standards Brian Liebel, in a prepared statement. “Her engineering degree and broad application background, as well as her longstanding interest in lighting research, make her uniquely qualified, and I am very pleased to have her on our staff in this position.”
On her new appointment De Grazio noted, "As a longtime active member of IES, I am excited about being able to contribute to the organization in a whole new way. Our many documents are a vital part of who we are, and I am honored to have the privilege of contributing to their success.”
