Luceplan is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its iconic lamp, the Costanza. Designed in 1986 by architect and company co-founder Paolo Rizzatto, the design has stood the test of time—and technology. In 2014, the luminaire was updated to incorporate an LED module and the incandescent version was taken out of production. Rizzatto designed Costanza as an exercise in simplicity and as an attempt to reduce the table lamp down to its basic elements: light, shade, and control.
The video below provides a behind the scenes look at the making of the Constanza 30th Anniversary commemorative photo.
The luminaire features a self-supporting polycarbonate shade and has a touch dimmer. Since the original debuted, the company has expanded the luminaire family to include a range of sizes, finishes, and shade colors. Luceplan has yearlong festivities planned to celebrate the lamp, which commenced in the company’s Milan showroom during the Salone del Mobile 2016 from April 12 to 17.
