Single S peed’s principals were concerned about the environmental impact of plywood, so they switched to “plyboo”—a laminated bamboo from San Francisco-based Smith & Fong. Hong says the product—used for these bent, movable shelves—“is responsibly harvested, uses low- VOC adhesives, and looks beautiful.” The 100 percent bamboo panels measure 96 inches by 48 inches, though custom lengths are available.
