To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Italian architect Rodolfo Dordoni’s Lumiere table lamp for Foscarini, the lighting company has given the design a commemorative update. The new model maintains the original 1990 fixture’s form, which comprises a wide, mouth-blown glass diffuser and a slender tripod base, together modeled after a typical table lamp. For the new version, however, the company has applied a mirrored metallic finish to the shade, causing it to appear opaque when the fixture is turned off and transparent when it is illuminated.
Also new are warm white, cherry, and turquoise color options for the diffuser, each with a white internal layer to reflect light when the fixture is powered off. The fixture provides both direct and semi-diffuse illumination. The base is made of die-cast aluminum, with anti-scratch silicone feet, and can be hand-finished in either chromed black or champagne.
