At this year's Salone del Mobile, in Milan, Italian glass and crystal manufacturer Glas Italia is showcasing a new furniture collection that arose in collaboration with seven renowned architects and designers, including Patricia Urquiola, Mario Bellini, Jean Nouvel, Hon. FAIA, and Tokujin Yoshioka. The manufacturer's 2018 collection encompasses a variety of furnishings, including bookcases, dining tables, and mirrors, and explores innovative ways to mold glass into furniture. Extra-light glass is a shared feature; the low iron-oxide material makes the glass fully transparent, colorless, and easy to manipulate.

The full collection is below:

L.A. Sunset
From Glas Italia: "Low round tables with structure in metal tubes painted in pearly midnight blue color. The top, in laminated glass with opaline finish, is a palette of colors blending and mixing with one another like gas or fluids, disguising the solid state of the material."

Liquefy
From Glas Italia: "High (shown) and low tables and console in tempered extra-light glass with a veined and organic decoration which takes on the color and veins of marble. The surprising image changing effect, makes the veining look dynamic and variable depending on the viewing point. Available in four different colors: green, pink-beige, whiskey and anthracite-gray. The decoration is enclosed by a coordinated color frame painted on the glass perimeter."

Ecco
From Glas Italia: "Floorstanding mirror in 12-millimeter extra-light glass, with detailed upper and lower edges of two cylindrical bars in yellow, green or black rubber, or in polished chromed metal. On the mirror there is a high quality dimmable LED light with excellent color performance. The opaline white diffuser is in Murano mouth-blown glass in a satin finish. The spiral shaped cable is wrapped in a colored fabric matching the finish of the cylindrical bars: black cable with black and chromed bars, green kiwi cable with camouflage green, turquoise cable with yellow bars. The on/off and dimmer switches are on the back of the mirror."

Hypertable
From Glas Italia: "Low table in transparent 10-millimeter extra-light glass glued at 45 degrees, the lower surface of which is completely covered by sheets of irregularly shaped and faceted extra-light glass. The edges of these glass sheets are beveled at different angles varying in degree of incline and width. The resulting table is one which resembles a magical set of prisms with unlimited faceting and unexpected reflections. A version is also available in mirror finish, where the features of the table are enhanced in an explosion of luminosity."

Plissé
From Glas Italia: "Extremely functional low table with a light aspect and soft and gentle shapes in 12-millimeter extra-light glass, shaped and curved thanks to a complex process of glass bending, obtaining two cantilevered tops separated by a practical compartment where objects can be stored. Positioned in the center is a functional magazine rack element made of curved glass with a reversed V-shape in transparent ruby red color or transparent extra-light glass."

Rayures
From Glas Italia: "Modular screen with hinged panels in laminated and tempered flutes glass in exclusive yellow and lilac colors or in neutral or 'transparent colored glass' range finishes. It is available also a mirror to be placed at the extremity of the composition. The glass veining is horizontal or vertical according to the size of the panel and the hinges are in anthracite chromed brass. The freedom of use with these panels with translucent finish allows the creation of screening and separating structures and at the same time to obtain privacy areas, filtering the light and returning it in a poetic and marvelously surreal way."

Cryptee
From Glas Italia: "High and low table in a special printed knurled glass, laminated with 12-millimeter-thick extra-light glass. The surface of this precious material presents many small parallel prisms, with an exceptional refracting light effect creating an incomparable brilliance. The legs, made with the same glass, glued at 45 degrees, create square tubes with a kaleidoscopic effect. They can be disassembled and fixed to the top thanks to sophisticated pairs of pierced stainless steel plates: one is rebated into the top, the other one fixed to the top of the leg. The tie-rods inside the legs and the polished chrome feet emphasize the glass reflections. Available in different sizes."

Ami-Verre
From Glas Italia: "Bookcase in 10-millimeter-thick smoked or “black paste” tempered glass, created by a unique modular element, usable in different configurations. Joints allowing the glass slabs to be inserted one into the other are placed in a series of precise glass millings, creating an infrastructure of horizontal and vertical surfaces with a dovetail fixing. The structure is finally reinforced and stabilized with metallic strengthening elements positioned in the joints."
