Which cities in the U.S. will have commuters trading in buses and cars for bicycles? In honor of National Bike to Work Week, Zillow crunched the numbers and found the best cities for bikers, based on criteria such as the percentage of commuters that bike to work, bike commute times, bike storage, and miles of protected bike lanes present in cities. Zillow staffer Jordyn Lee presents the findings:

Seattle came in at number one as the best bike city. It has seven miles of protected bike lanes, and on average it takes a cyclist 27 minutes to get to work compared to 32 minutes on public transportation. Seattle was followed by Portland, Ore., and San Francisco.

"Of the largest cities in the U.S., Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco are among those that saw double-digit home value increases over the past year. These cities are growing rapidly, and not only do they have a hot job market, but they’re also great for cyclists — added incentive for those thinking about moving to the area."
