After breaking ground in May 2014, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium will open to Atlanta Falcons fans on Aug. 26 with the team’s first game in their new home stadium. The HOK-designed stadium is also the new home for the Atlanta United soccer team.
The stadium’s signature element is the retractable roof, which opens and closes with eight “petals” covered in ETFE pillows. A new time-lapse video posted on YouTube shows this roof in action in advance of the real-life debut.
