AIA Annnounces Winners of Its 2020 Architecture Awards

The Institute selected eight winners including Thomas Phifer and Partners' Glenstone Museum in Potomac, Md., and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates' Floral Court in London.

Today, the American Institute of Architects announced the winners of its 2020 Architecture Awards, honoring eight projects that embody “the best contemporary architecture regardless of budget, size, style, or type,” according to the AIA website. The winning projects included three located in the U.S., one in Canada, one in India, one in the U.K., one in China, and one in Denmark.

The jury for the 2020 AIA Architecture Awards was composed of chair Samuel M. Miller, FAIA, partner at LMN Architects in Seattle; Merrill Elam, AIA, principal at Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects in Atlanta; Rebecca Sharkey, AIA, principal at EHDD in San Francisco; Dale Frens, AIA, of Patterhn Ives in West Chester, Penn.; Michael Johns, FAIA, principal at Mdesigns + MWJ Consulting in Philadelphia; Michelle Acosta, AIA, healthcare project manager at SmithGroup, in Phoenix, Arizz.; Trinity Simons, executive director at the Mayor’s Institute on City Design in Washington, D.C.; Kevin Alter, Assoc. AIA, partner at Alterstudio Architecture in Austin, Texas; and Caleb Bertels, graduate of the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design in, Fayetteville, Ark.
