German marketing and consulting firm International Forum Design has announced the winners of its iF Product Design Awards. The Lighting category included 46 winning entries, with luminaires from Royal Philips Electronics, Zumtobel Staff, and Bega.

The goal of the iF Product Design Awards is three-fold: to enhance appreciation for excellent design, to draw attention to outstanding design achievements, and to help users recognize the different nuances in a complex product world.

The competition, which was launched in 1953, is overseen by 20 international jurors. On average, more than 1,000 products from 30 nations were entered into 12 categories: Consumer Electronics/Telecommunications, Computers, Office/Business, Lighting, Household/Residential, Leisure/Lifestyle, Industry/Buildings, Medicine, Public Design/Interior Design, Transportation, Advanced Studies, and Packaging/Globe Packaging.

Philips Electronics won five awards-for its Crestbay Luminaire, Equinox LED Pedestrian Floodlight, LED Architectural Floodlight (above), Savio Range, and Master Traffic Signaling Lamp. Zumtobel was honored for its VIVO spotlight system and the CLEAN clean-room luminaire (right). View a list of winners. The official awards ceremony will take place on March 9 at the computer trade fair CeBIT in Hanover, Germany. Winning products are posted on the iF online exhibition at ifdesign.de.
