The American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture have revealed the winners of the latest AIA COTE Top Ten for Students Competition. Hosted annually, the contest asks students attending ACSA member schools to enter studio projects "that use a thoroughly integrated approach to architecture, natural systems, and technology to provide design solutions that protect and enhance the environment," according to an AIA press release.
This year, more than 1,100 contestants submitted their work, which was evaluated by a 5-person jury. Jurors included Rahman Azari, of Pennsylvania State University; Nithyashree Balachandar Iyer, Assoc. AIA, of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; Jill Kurtz, AIA, of Page; Sarah Mathews, AIA, of Jacobs; and Julie Ju-Youn Kim, of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
