In April 2017, the Atlanta Braves plan to open their new stadium and mixed-use development roughly 12 miles from the baseball team's current home at Turner Field, where it has been based since 1997. The team announced the project in November 2013, and broke ground on SunTrust Park, designed by Kansas City, Mo.based Populous, in September of this year.

On Wednesday, the team announced that the mixed-use development around the new stadium is being designed by Alpharetta, Ga.–based firm Wakefield Beasley & Associates, and released renderings of this part of the project. The development will include roughly 500 housing units, a hotel, offices, restaurants, and retail.
