
There’s one Motor City industry that’s been rising steadily over the last decade: ruin porn. As the industrial capital’s core has collapsed, Detroit has become the destination for voyeuristic tourists shooting urban wastelands. Detroit Revealed: Photographs 2000–2010, an exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Arts, stands apart from the exploitative click-baiting Web slide shows with a survey of Detroit pics that is neither vulgar nor prosumer, but decidely art.
