We Are What We Do, a U.K. collective that engages people in activities for the greater good—one of its books is titled Teach Your Granny to Text and Other Ways to Change the World—has partnered with Google Maps to create Historypin. An effort to encourage intergenerational conversation, Historypin invites everyone to upload their photos, tag them by location (anywhere on Earth) and year (back to 1840), and provide the story behind each image. A free Google account is necessary to participate, but anyone can browse the map and see what’s already in the database. • historypin.com
