Taking inspiration from the multifaceted forms of an octahedron, this new skylight by Danish company Velux adds a functional-aesthetic appeal to commercial architecture projects. Offered in four standard thermoplastic glazing options—general purpose acrylic, impact modified acrylic , LuxGuard polycarbonate, and LuxGuard-Plus polycarbonate—the Dynamic Dome was designed to withstand harsh weather. It is available in a choice of single-, double-, and triple dome glazings.

The skylight both collects sunlight and reduces glare through strategically placed angles and facets within the dome that allow optimum levels light to penetrate during low-light periods in the day, reducing the need for electric lighting.

The dome is mounted with an aluminum frame, while a thermoplastic wicking system on its interior helps to eliminate condensation. A water barrier functions doubly as a thermal seal to keep critters out. The new product comes in a range of standard sizes, including 24 inch by 48 inch, 36 inch by 72 inch, and 48 inch by 60 inch. Custom sizes are also available.
