National architecture firm Shepley Bulfinch, specialists in design for the healthcare industry, will open a new office in San Francisco. The firm has a history of work for West Coast clients that dates to the development of the original Stanford University Campus in 1891. More recent projects include the design of an academic commons for Occidental College, in Los Angeles; three academic buildings for the University of California, Riverside; and the central library for the city of Eugene, Ore. This is the third office for the firm, which was founded in Boston and opened a location in Phoenix in 2009. The San Francisco office will be led by Peter Schlosser, AIA, who has joined the firm as principal. His portfolio includes the delivery of six major facilities for the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, including California’s first LEED Gold Certified healthcare facility.
