Firm Description

Allies and Morrison is an architecture and urban planning practice based in London and Cambridge. We have a reputation for well crafted buildings and thoughtful place making. Our work ranges from architecture, interior design and conservation to masterplanning, consultation and research. Twice shortlisted for the Stirling prize, 41 of our completed projects have won RIBA awards. Now more than 300 strong, we are one of the largest practices of our kind in Europe. We enjoy working across a number of sectors. Of note is our experience in higher education which is informed by a number of commissions at Britain’s leading global universities: The University of Cambridge, The University of Oxford, Imperial College London, King’s College London and the University of the Arts London. In the arts, our portfolio includes the new home for Rambert and the rejuvenation of Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank, the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and future expansion of Shakespeare’s Globe, and the Horniman Museum extension. We are currently leading a team on the design of the Stratford Waterfront cluster of cultural and educational buildings in east London, which include new buildings for the Victoria & Albert Museum and Sadler’s Wells, as well as the future home of the London College of Fashion and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. As urbanists, we are especially known for our work in regeneration, housing and community, creating new neighbourhoods that build on the qualities of the contexts within which they are found. In London, we have been entrusted with masterplans that have helped to shape the city's re-emergence as a global city, including the redevelopment of King’s Cross, the 2012 Olympic Games and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, as well as the second generation of Canary Wharf. We are also currently involved in major urban projects in Doha, Beirut, Muscat and Toronto.
