Firm Description

A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Graduate School of Design, David Gauld worked for the Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Arata Isozaki on the design of art museums, including the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum SoHo. Gauld’s own work is strongly influenced by Isozaki, who was also Gauld’s professor at Harvard. The two continued to collaborate on projects after Gauld established his own office in 1997.

Gauld’s own widely published and award-winning projects include retail stores, public buildings, and private homes. Most notably, he was the architect for the recent $12 million renovation and expansion of the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach.
