Fearn Macpherson Chartered Architects is a successful, dynamic and experienced practice in Aberfeldy. We are a chartered practice providing architectural services in Aberfeldy and Perthshire with commissions throughout Scotland and North England.We pride ourselves in working collaboratively with our clients in the design process and steering the project through each stage. We achieve projects completed within budget, on time and sustainably to their bespoke requirements. The integrity of each building project is realized within the context of its own unique environment.
We hold extensive experience in housing, agricultural buildings, hotel, community spaces, energy provision, healthcare and education. The variety of our work encompasses individual new houses, holiday and house group developments, estate and agricultural works, large and small house refurbishments, extensions and remodelling historic, listed and protected buildings.
Robert Macpherson was brought up in Hampshire, studied Architecture at Kingston University finishing his final part 3 in 1992 at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee University – receiving the highest marks at the time for Professional Practice. With long family ties to Scotland with annual summer holidays in Newtonmore, Inverness-shire and newly married with his wife’s family near Blairgowrie, Perthshire Robert worked in the Aberfeldy practice from 1991 to 1997 learning the fundamentals of building projects from start to finish and rural constraints and practices. To further develop his experience he relocated to Barnes, London to Barnsley Hewett & Mallinson specialising in school projects and residential houses. This included the wholescale refurbishment and building of new accommodation for the ‘Royal Ballet School’, White Lodge in Richmond Park over a period of five years. In 2010 Robert was invited by Bob Fearn to join him as a partner in his company to allow him to retire and continue the practice. Bob retired in 2015 from full time working and now acts as a consultant to the practice. Robert is the partner in charge of all projects in the office.
