Project Description
FROM THE STUDENTS:
Our mission is to create an Ecological Home that sets the standard for sustainable living and creates waves of change in the housing market. To this end, we will design and build a smart, livable, and affordable home catered to the next generation of homeowners. It is our sincere hope that our home will represent a new paradigm for our generation - an evolved way of living where net-zero homes are desired and carried forth as the norm rather than the ideal. Supply is driven by demand; by educating and inspiring our peers to demand sustainable housing, we can revolutionize the housing market and dictate the level of impact our homes will have on the environment.
Our generation is often referred to as “Generation Now,” and we believe that by changing the way young, prospective homeowners live and think, we can set a new standard that echoes into future generations.
Team Ontario is a collaboration of students and faculty from Queen’s University, Carleton University, and Algonquin College united by a passion to promote renewable energy and sustainable living. With over 100 students from multiple backgrounds and disciplines, we believe that our collective knowledge and experiences will allow us to create a winning design that integrates modern technologies. Together, we are excited to tackle one of the most critical issues facing our generation: how to achieve truly sustainable and affordable living.
