Project Description
Ames Hall is the first visible building upon entering the main gates of the Mount Vernon Campus of The George Washington University. Quinn Evans Architects renovated an existing historic building and designed an addition which doubles its size. The solution is artfully composed within the confines of the tight and steeply sloped site, and complements this academic building within the context of the traditional campus while providing much needed additional office/administrative, classrooms, lecture halls, and student auxiliary spaces. The south façade of Ames stands as an inviting entry point into the campus while maintaining its historic position on the Quad to the north.
