Project Description
Based on the client’s philosophy to change the way customers shop for fragrance, CORE’s design of the retail space, located in the Mosaic District of Fairfax, integrates orientation points on the shelving while creating a gallery for the bottles.
The minimalist aesthetic plays well in the luxury boutique, which feels sleek and edited, with much of the detailing inspired by Japanese millwork. The architecture is completely orthogonal, a composition of cubes and planes. Where wood cubes are cut away for display vitrines or lighting, they are lined with champagne, rose-gold or brass metal. Dramatic light boxes glow elegantly to highlight featured product and create mass in the center of the space. CORE created a color palette that combined white, gray and natural oak wood tones with touches of deep indigo as well as metal tones inspired by the colors of citrus, found in some of the fragrances.
