Project Description
Master Bath – “Room with a View” This whole house remodel began with a one-story 1980’s style home that was transformed into a two-story modern. Keeping the original footprint, the interiors were opened, indoor/outdoor spaces created using sliding glass doors, and a second story added. The master suite was moved to the upper level to capture the spectacular lake views. The objective of the master bath was to create a spa-like environment incorporating an indoor/outdoor connection, warm and inviting spaces, and a natural, clean lined design. Neutral colored materials were used to create a harmonious and tranquil atmosphere. Ample storage and counter space were created using extensive floating cabinetry. A convenient upstairs laundry room and large his and her walk in closets provide convenience and even more storage space for the master suite. The closets and laundry room flank the connecting hallway. A stunning focal point of up lighted art niches was designed at the end of the hallway making this utilitarian space pleasingly beautiful. Soft, natural lighting is achieved with sleek wall fixtures and back lighted floating ceilings. The soaker tub features a luxurious chrome wall spout and beautiful view of the lake. The juxtaposition of the walnut tub surround, limestone, stacked quartz, and Cambria creates an organic, architectural space. The shower was designed to be functional as well as visually pleasing. Shower niches provide architectural detail and the floating ceiling adds drama and warmth. A wall of charcoal colored, stacked quartz creates interest as it mimics a shadow. The textural detail of the shower floor was created by cutting limestone tiles into six inch squares and laying them in a quarter turn pattern. The water closet, located next to the tub, is virtually unnoticed in the layout of the room. An expansive balcony off the master bath provides a relaxing indoor/outdoor space for lounging. Built-in shades are available to cover the sliding glass doors when privacy is needed. We believe this bath deserves recognition because of the functional layout, exceptional design and finishes, and the incorporation of the beautiful lake view.
