Project Description
FROM THE ARCHITECT:
Central City Concern, a local nonprofit founded in 1979, serves adults and families in the Portland area experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. The agency helps more than 13,000 people per year.
CCC is partnering with six Oregon healthcare organizations to address intertwined issues of affordable housing and healthcare access. Part of a series of developments, the Eastside Health & Recovery Center will provide a first-floor clinic and housing for people, who are medically fragile, recovering from addiction, or receiving treatment for mental illness. The building will also serve as a new home for the existing Eastside Concern program.
Organized into family pods, the design concept emphasizes the idea of home while encouraging interaction and support among residents. The health center will have two floors of integrated primary care, substance use disorder treatment, domestic violence counseling, and wellness services, including 24/7 clinical support for some of the programs.
