Project Description
FROM THE ARCHITECTS:
Chengdu International School (CDIS) is a PK-12 international school supporting a global enrollment with an American-based curriculum. The school is one of the top western schools located in this important, fast-growing hub of China.
Since its founding 15 years ago, Chengdu International School (CDIS) has experienced considerable growth and development in program, enrollment, and facility. In response to this increasing scheduling and programmatic pressure, CDIS engaged Perkins Eastman to conduct a comprehensive programming and planning process that would help inform the next five to ten years of campus development through incremental, phased implementation.
This planning process resulted in transforming a newly constructed, partially fit-out facility initially intended to support a local elementary school into a 17,000 sm facility to support CDIS's enrollment of 695 students in Pre-K through grade 12.
Perkins Eastman worked closely with the client to transform the school both programmatically and aesthetically in step with their vision and standards. A key feature of the design importantly encloses portions of the building originally exposed to outside elements.
