Project Description
HMN Architects recently completed a 5,000 SF relocation and renovation of Children's Mercy Hospital Gift Shop in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The new area, including retail, storage, office and circulation spaces, has been relocated to a more prominent area within the hospital for convenience for patients and guests.
The primary ceiling in the gift shop is open to the structure and arrayed with a system of white suspended fins, which are lit from above by programmable, vibrantly colored LEDs. This eye-catching feature was developed in collaboration with BRR Architecture and Dimensional Innovations.
The new design and location for the Children's Mercy Gift Shop have proven successful in improving the visibility, enticement and allure of this service within the hospital, improving both patronage and revenue.
